Summer ST Math & Reading practice
Dear Parents,
I am very impressed with the growth the students have made during our year together! Many of them have exceeded the learning goals that were set during our Fall testing in 3rd Grade! They will be bringing home progress reports in their report cards on the last day of school.
There are some WONDERFUL summer learning opportunities to help your child maintain the progress they have made this school year. At home, even if your child has reached 100% of ST Math Lab work for 3rd grade, they may continue doing the "homework" that has now been assigned for summer. Epic! is a digital library that your child has been working on for the last couple of weeks at school. It has a wide range of self-selected materials that have comprehension quizzes at the end of each selection with a free 30 day trail at home and then special low summer rates.
Please see the attached ST Math and Epic Reading program letters with login information.
Here's to an awesome summer filled with learning!
Warmest Regards,
Maggie Fagan

This set of tests will give instant feedback to your child. Please have them share their goals with you and check in with them to see what growth they have made for the year! When report cards come home the last day of school, we will include a printed out summary for you to keep!
Please be sure your child has a hearty breakfast and send each day this week:

Valentines Day in 3rd Grade
Learn more about the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee »
Congratulations!
As a class, your students have earned an average of 60% syllabus progress! Keep up the great work!JiJi has reached a new destination and sent you a postcard:
"I visited the farms and fields surrounding the Great Lakes of the United States in search of the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. This bee used to be very common, but its population has declined by 87% in the last several years. In 2017 it was added to the Endangered Species list. The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee is really good at pollinating, helping plants like cranberries, plums, apples, and onions to grow. This is because bumblebees have a special way of shaking their wings to get as much pollen as possible from a flower. How does moving around help you learn more at school?"
Sincerely,
JiJi and the ST Math Team

Learn more about the Fluminense Swallowtail »
Congratulations!
As a class, your students have earned an average of 10% syllabus progress! Keep up the great work!
For every 10% your class average progresses, JiJi will send you a new postcard. Each postcard includes a link to where you can get more information about the arthropod to extend your students' learning as they follow JiJi around the world.
More ways to use postcards:
JiJi has reached the first destination and sent you a postcard:
"I have traveled to the coastal swamps near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to find a beautiful endangered butterfly called the Fluminense Swallowtail. It’s endangered because many of the wetlands where it lives have been drained for building or farming. All over the world, insects and spiders are in danger of disappearing. Sometimes their habitats are changed or destroyed; other times there are new predators eating them. Insects and spiders play a crucial role in the world’s ecosystems, so even though some insects may look scary (not butterflies though!) we should all do our part to help them. In my search for the world’s most endangered insects and spiders, where do you think I’ll go? What do you think I’ll see?"
Sincerely,
JiJi and the ST Math Team

Hello, my name is Maggie Fagan. I have had the pleasure of teaching grades K-6 for over 20 years in Billings. This is my 9th year at wonderful Arrowhead Elementary School.
VISION:
EMPOWERING STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS AND LEADERSHIP WHILE ENSURING HIGH LEVELS OF SUCCESS FOR ALL!
I wholeheartedly embrace our vision and strive to deliver varied learning experiences, hands-on learning discoveries, and a love of learning to your child. My goal is to develop independent learners who have a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Away from school, I'm the mom to Lute and Shania, who have recently graduated from West High School. My husband, Grant, and I love spending time with family and friends and taking walks with our two puppies Lily & Kaia. Our newest addition is a kitty named Shuffle. He loves to chase both puppies around our house and keeps us all smiling.
I am looking forward to another awesome school year here at Arrowhead with you and your child!
I am so looking forward to meeting you at our "Meet the Teacher" night on Wednesday, August 22nd from 4:00-5:00. This a a great chance to bring in all your supplies, meet me, and get familiar with your new classroom!
Sincerely,
